2nd Mate, UKD Marlin and UKD Orca

UK Dredging require 2nd Mates for their vessels UKD Marlin (2,692 GT) and their new vessel UKD Orca (3,080 GT, provisional). Anyone wishing to apply must be competent ship handlers with suitable STCW '95 qualifications for these vessels - the main duties will be:

Ø Ship handling and all navigational watch keeping duties including pilotage where appropriate.

Ø Close liaison with Master and Dredge Master to ensure dredging is being undertaken safely, efficiently and accurately.

Ø Competent use of dredge guidance system.

Ø Understudy to the Chief Mate in all his duties and be ready to act in such capacity when required.

Ø Assist and supervise deck department in all deck cleaning, fabric and general maintenance duties.

Ø Maintenance of Navigation Charts and publications ensuring that they are maintained up to date and that chart corrections are undertaken accurately and records maintained.

Ø Support the shipboard Safety Management System.

Work Pattern:

Nominal 12 hours per day as duties dictate.

14 days on duty, 14 days off duty.
